MinIO Wins TechTarget’s Storage Product of the Year for Second Time!

We are extremely excited to announce that MinIO Enterprise has won Gold in the enterprise cloud storage category of the 2022 TechTarget Storage Product of the Year awards. This one of the most coveted awards in the storage business – and we’ve won it for an unprecedented two years in a row. The TechTarget awards are judged by a panel of industry experts – consultants, analysts, users and TechTarget editors – to recognize the best in enterprise data storage systems.

This is TechTarget’s 21st annual Products of the Year awards. There were over 50 entries for enterprise cloud storage, of which three winners – Gold, Silver and Bronze – were selected. Because of its prominence, this is THE award in the storage space, and winning for the second year in a row acknowledges our market dominance.

TechTarget invited vendors to submit storage products for consideration last fall. The judges select the top fifteen Products of the Year (five of which are category products of the year or Gold Winners) from among nominated products. Innovation, performance, ease of use, ease of integration, functionality and value drove the selection process. Given today’s economic climate, judges emphasized value because “data storage buyers are increasingly looking to do more with less”. To be eligible, products had to be new or significantly upgraded storage-related enterprise products that first shipped on or after Sept. 22, 2021, and before Sept. 1, 2022.

Given that we release an updated version of MinIO roughly every week, we qualify as “significantly upgraded.” We submitted MinIO Release.2022-09-25T15-44-53Z for evaluation.

MinIO Enterprise is a software-defined, Kubernetes-native object store that enables persistent storage for containers across all major public clouds, private clouds and on-premises storage systems. The software is priced based upon usable capacity with a cost per terabyte, per month model. Direct-to-engineer support with a 1 hour SLA and a suite of operational capabilities are delivered via our SUBNET portal. Many of the largest organizations in the world rely on MinIO for multi-cloud data lake house and analytics success.

The judges were effusive with compliments:

"MinIO has become the standard against which object storage solutions are measured," one judge said. "Its performance is gated only by the hardware on which it's installed, so there is some assembly required to install it."

TechTarget emphasized that enterprise cloud storage faces significant challenges as “enterprises face economic uncertainties, such as shrinking headcounts and tighter budgets heading into 2023”.

The outlet further pointed out that “Data storage buyers are looking to stretch existing resources and their own dollars more than ever before, leading to a rise in popularity for vendor-neutral storage software.” This aligns perfectly with the prediction made by our founder and CEO, AB Periasamy, at the end of last year that “cost optimization drives on-premises storage”. “Cost optimization will be the number one priority in an uncertain economic environment,” said Periasamy, and, “this will usher in an age of cloud neutrality – where the operating model and economics are on equal footing with physical location.”

While we are guided by a desire to build the fastest, most scalable and most flexible software-defined cloud-native object storage you can buy, we are both overjoyed and proud that the industry recognizes our efforts. Awards are not our goal, we work to deliver the best object storage possible to customers and community - but to get recognition like this…well it feels rewarding to have our efforts acknowledged by industry leaders. We’ve taken great strides forward over the past 6+ years and we look forward to continuing to push object storage forward.
