Introducing the MinIO Learning Subscription

Getting started with MinIO is easy—with a few simple commands and a small 100 MB binary, you can have a functional development environment up and running in no time. However, to harness the full capability of MinIO at production scale, professionals are encouraged to learn more about MinIO’s extensive capabilities.

We are introducing the MinIO Learning Subscription, featuring unlimited access to MinIO’s growing portfolio of training content. Through the subscription, training is delivered through a combination of demo videos, practical exercises and hands-on labs, designed to help customers accelerate onboarding new staff and shorten time-to-market.

Developing great technical training starts by defining the key customer use cases and personas responsible for manifesting these use cases through technology. MinIO training is focused on large enterprise workloads including artificial intelligence, machine learning and modern data lake deployments. These workloads take full advantage of the performance, security, and scale that MinIO uniquely offers.

Customer-focused technical training requires experienced practitioners to build hands-on labs first and then work backward with just enough concepts and context to support hands-on learning. This is MinIO’s approach, which we believe leads to relevant, focused, and efficient training.

In the MinIO Learning Subscription, each module starts with a definition of practical skills to be learned, followed by one or more videos featuring Curriculum Engineers, developers, solution architects and administrators, who start with necessary concepts and then quickly transition into demonstration mode. Learners observe how to put concepts into action to solve real-world challenges.

At this point, MinIO subscribers are ready to apply these skills on their own. The subscription includes a straightforward set of Docker compose scripts that will run on Linux, Mac or Windows systems and only requires a system with 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, and 10 GB storage space. Once installed, learners have the opportunity to walk through guided exercises in their local lab environment. These are hands-on activities that spell out all necessary steps to complete tasks.

MinIO wants to ensure learners are able to apply these skills without the support of step-by-step instructions. To that end, each module culminates with a challenge lab that defines outcomes the learners can then work through on their own. Students who complete these labs are well prepared to use these skills in production and to demonstrate mastery via the MinIO Certified Administrator exam.

The MinIO Learning Subscription will provide users with access to more than 200 videos organized into courses for MinIO administrators and developers. The content is indexed and searchable, allowing for targeted, just-in-time performance support. Additionally, students can also choose to learn on the go using the mobile app.

The MinIO Learning Subscription includes a voucher for each named learner to attempt the MinIO Certified Administrator - Practitioner exam. To successfully complete this exam, candidates will need working knowledge of all core features and capabilities including deployment, bucket creation, versioning, life cycle management, replication, encryption, and authentication, among others. Candidates who earn this certification will have demonstrated production MinIO administration skills.

Subscribers also receive exclusive access to a trial license of AIStor, providing access to learn about features including Caching, Catalog, Firewall, Observability and KMS that are unique to our commercial offering.

Interacting with others is also integral to the learning experience. The MinIO Learning Subscription includes an engaging peer-to-peer learning model where students can ask questions, get answers, and see others’ contributions inline with the course content. The MinIO curriculum engineers are also directly accessible to students. This provides a fluid and integrated model for collaborative learning missing from many other online learning experiences.

At just $700 per learner for a full year (with volume discounts available starting at just 10 learners), the MinIO Learning Subscription is priced to encourage customers to invest in themselves and in their teams in preparation for project success.
